Over the past couple of months, we've been hard at work on a completely new Sparta. We've rebuilt the entire web application from the ground up, focusing heavily on all of the great feedback we got from our early clients during our first 6 months of existence.
Why we rebuilt Sparta:

In addition to rebuilding the foundation, we've also added new features - all focusing on increasing application engagement to drive more value for our customers.
At the core of the new Sparta, is the new and improved Dashboard, or your "profile page" if you like. Compared to the first incarnation - a lot has changed here.Critically, the "Competition View" has been dramatically improved. From the dashboard, you can now see who is in the lead, what your rank is, the competition period, how many people are competing and who created the competition. This results in far less clicking around for the user.
We've also performed a heavy makeover on the leaderboard, although the changes are more cosmetic than anything else - as you can see the underlying interface is pretty similar to the first version of Sparta.
- Improved activity feed. We now seperate chat messages from logged activities. We've introduced the "Like" or "Fist Bump" as we call it into the activity feed and have also implemented a @mentions functionality, whereby users can mention others on the feed, and they will be pinged by email.
- In addition, we've added something we're calling the "Hero View". When you click a particular user, you'll be shown a breakdown of their activities throughout the competition and how they are stacking up compared to the rest of the group.
Stream / Notifications
This was by far one of the most requested features from our clients during the first 6 months. One of the real benefits of Sparta is that it creates a real-time buzz around a sales competition and now with the introduction of the Stream, we're taking that to a new level. When important events happen during a competition (you are overtaken, the lead changes etc) - relevant users will be notified, which should build an even greater buzz and excitement inside competitions.
Importantly, we've also introduced automated daily reports, so all participants are updated each morning on the current results - taking a big load off the managers, who often perform this task manually, on a daily basis.
The new product is currently available at https://new.spartasales.com/, but current customers can of course continue to use the existing produc until their active competitions end.
